The Mobile World Congress 2010 will see two giant releases from Microsoft if this Digitimes report is correct. They will be launching Windows Mobile 6.6 at the conference and are also expected to announce the launch date for WinMo 7 at that time. 7 is expected to be ready for Microsoft's handheld hardware partners by September of 2010.

That means we're looking at Q4 2010 or Q1 2011 for the release of the very first wave of Windows Mobile 7 devices. English and common European languages will be ready initially, while the Asian versions will have to wait until 2011. Microsoft is working with HTC to develop two WM7 smartphones, the Apollo and the Obsession. We'll bring you more details as they are unveiled.

A post Thursday on the Facebook developer blog announced that in a few weeks, the social network will be launching its "Dashboard" for third-party applications built on its platform. Right now, developers are allowed access to a "sandbox" where they can experiment with the new format and see what will be different.

What will the dashboard, part of a newly organized Facebook home page, bring to ordinary users? For the most part, it cleans up the Facebook app experience for users who may have installed dozens of third-party applications, and separates games--many of the platform's biggest sensations--into their own tab.

Applications that a user has used recently are grouped at the top, displaying news updates like "It's your move in your Scrabble game against Bill Gates." There's also a grid to show which applications that Facebook member's friends have been interacting with recently, along with suggestions for others that they might like based on what they already use. A set of "counters" in the left-hand sidebar shows members that they have updates and alerts from individual applications.

Developers haven't always been thrilled by Facebook's occasional crackdowns on what apps can and can't do, from e-mail notifications to prominence on members' profiles. But redesigning and cleaning up the app experience so that it's easier for Facebook users to find new apps and get more updates from the ones they already use is likely to be a well-received move.

Silex Technology has unveiled a new device that allows the user to share up to 15 USB devices via a Gigabit Ethernet interface using TCP/IP protocol. The adapter allows the sharing of all sorts of USB devices like speakers, monitors, and webcams on a network via a USB interface.

The Silex device is called the SX-3000GB. Using the adapter any USB device can be connected to the network and shared. The gadget would make a nice print server. It features a pair of USB 2.0 ports and up to one amp of USB power for powering gadgets.

The device is bundled with software that is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.x and all recent versions of Windows. The device is available now for $99.

But while the former at least has the support of her family, poor Lindsay has been throwing the tabloid wolves by her ex-convict of a father and attention whore of a mother. The result, sadly, has been rumors of drug use and cutting.

Therefore, we can forgive Lohan's unoriginal sense of fashion. She does have a lot on her mind these days.

This may explain why Lindsay's Brian Lichtenberg dress at this month's InStyle Golden Globes after-party was the exact same outfit worn by Kardashian a few weeks earlier in Las Vegas.

UFC 113, originally scheduled for May 1 in Montreal, has been moved a week to May 8. The event will still take place in Montreal at the Bell Centre as previously reported.

UFC President, Dana White apparently confirmed the news to our friend Steve Cofield, at Yahoo! Sports.

There are rumors that a proposed match between former pound for pound boxing king, Floyd Mayweather and boxing legend, Shane Mosley has been scheduled for the original date of May 1st and may be a reason for the move.

It seems the move is being made to allow ample time to promote UFC 113, as well as give "Money Mayweather" his weekend to shine.

It seems like a logical step by the UFC brass, as the Bell Centre was open for most of May and there is no reason in trying to compete against one of the fight world's biggest draws. Either way, it should be an exciting 7 days for fight fans.

UFC 113 is expected to be headlined by light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida defending his belt in a rematch against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Also expected to co-headline is an intriguing welterweight showdown between Paul "Semtex" Daly and Ultimate Fighter season 1 contestant, Josh Koscheck.

Earlier today a report appeared that Apple and Microsoft talk about replacing Google as default search engine on the iPhone with Bing.
If true than I think Apple is really preparing an iPhone that will be sans Google services by default.
Today Google Search and Google Maps are very prominently featured on the iPhone.

Today the iPhone makes it very easy to use Google services, but Apple could be soon in a position to cover all important services Google currently offers for them.
Last October a report appeared that Apple bought PlaceBase, which built an alternative to Google Maps.
With Mobile Me Apple is already offering personal communication service. Apple needs to just offer it for free to match Google's offerings.

And of course if the Bing deal goes through, Google Search is out by default. Long term Apple is rumored to offer their own search.

On the business side, Apple just recently bought a mobile advertising company called Quattro Wireless.
As mobile advertising is seen to explode over the next years, it is strategically important to own all mobile services ads can be placed on to be on top of the food chain.

Google is doing the same thing with Android and they are ahead in providing all services. Apple could though catch up with the iPhone 2010 and the iPhone 4.0 OS.

Sony announced today that it will release the new Motion Controller for the Sony PS3 in Fall of 2010. This will be a global launch and will be joined by an extensive line-up of software titles enabled for the Motion controller.
Sony says that Motion Controller is still a tentative name. This week rumors point to Sony naming the Motion Controller Sony Arc.

"We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users, " said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with. We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expand and define the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home."

When Sony showed the Motion Controller at the Tokyo Game Show in September of last year the plan was to release the new controller in Spring 2010. Now we have to wait for the Holiday Shopping Season 2010.

To use the Sony Motion Controller you also need the PlayStation Eye camera for the PS3. I predict Sony to sell bundles containing Motion Controller and PlayStation Eye.

Microsoft has announced at the CES, that the Project Natal motion controller for the Xbox 360 will be released in time for the Holidays 2010.
So, Nintendo has still three quarters of the year the right to say the Wii is the only motion controlled video game console on the market.

Bill Gates is many things: software giant, philanthropist, and now Twitter user.

As of a few hours ago, the Microsoft chairman is one of the millions offering brief takes on their world to anyone who wants to follow them. I doubt that he'll be sharing what he had for breakfast or bemoaning the fact that his cell phone just dropped a call, but Gates is now on Twitter.

The "@BillGates" account existed before, but it wasn't actually Gates or anyone on his staff doing the posts. Now, though, the account is held by Gates and is also one of the pages that Twitter lists as a "verified account."

The first post by the real Bill Gates was a note that he plans to release the second of his annual foundation letters on Monday, charting the progress and challenges in his philanthropic efforts.

"'Hello World," Gates wrote. "Hard at work on my foundation letter--publishing on 1/25."

The first foundation letter (PDF), posted a year ago, noted that it planned to increase its spending in 2009, despite the recession.

Gates also retweeted posts from Time and Ryan Seacrest on Haiti, thanking Seacrest for his work in the quake relief effort.

As of this writing, Gates has about 8,800 followers, but I'd expect that to jump very quickly. It was 3,000 followers when I started typing this post.

Among the first people Gates started following--even before @Microsoft--was actress/singer Ashley Tisdale. Tisdale was added, I'm told, because of the work she does with Microsoft and her efforts working with developing countries.

Gates was also once on Facebook, but he said he eventually gave up on the service after being inundated with friend requests.

MANILA, Philippines - A chief adviser of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao said seven weeks or anything within 50 days, should be enough to put the Filipino pound-for-pound champion a hundred percent ready for Josh Clottey.

“Seven weeks will be enough. No need to worry,” said Wakee Salud, the Cebuano matchmaker and one of Pacquiao’s closest friends, of the March 13 bout in Arlington, Texas.

Pacquiao arrived to a warm welcome Thursday evening in Los Angeles (yesterday morning Manila time) but will have to honor a couple more commitments before he starts his serious training.

The 31-year-old champion, who will stake his WBO welterweight crown against Clottey, will be in Dallas and New York in the next couple of days to help drum up the event, and should hit the gym in LA on Thursday.

That will officially be his first day of training even if Pacquiao had instructed his handlers to bring his running gear along because he wants to break sweat while in Dallas and New York, regardless of the weather.

For his most recent fights, the ones against Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto, Pacquiao trained no more than eight weeks, and one week less won’t make enough of a difference, according to Salud.

“Inborn ang resistensiya (stamina) ni Manny,” said Salud, half-joking when he added that even if Pacquiao only trains for a month he’d be as strong, as quick and as powerful as he’s always been.

“You’ve seen him train and everybody will agree that once he starts training there’s no stopping him. What he does in the gym each day is probably double that what the others do in training,” said Salud.

Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, said he’d seen no other fighter in history, or his more than 40 years in the sport, train as hard as the hard-hitting southpaw from the Philippines.

“Not even (Muhammad) Ali trained like Pacquiao,” said Arum, who shares the predicament of the key members of Team Pacquiao of how to hold him back in training because he keeps asking for more.

“Yes, that’s the problem. Once he turns on that switch he just keeps on going, going and going,” said his strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza.

It’s Clottey, added Salud, who should worry about his training because while he’s naturally bigger than Pacquiao, it may be the first time he’d be up against someone both as fast and powerful as Pacquiao.

Yesterday Apple confirmed with a media invite that there is indeed an event on January 27th.
The Apple invite says "Come see our latest creation", which everybody sees as confirmation that Apple will indeed unveil the long rumored Apple Tablet.

Fox News has published an interesting rumor that would explain the creative theme of the invite. According to their sources Apple will unveil a new version of iLife that ties in with the Tablet.
Earlier rumors pointed actually to a new gesture driven iWorks release. Maybe we will see both.

According to the report Apple is also unveiling the iPhone 4.0 OS. That the Apple Tablet would have a new version of the Apple operating system is almost certain. The question is if the same OS is also going to work on the iPhone and iPod touch?
To make it clear, Apple is rumored to show a new iPhone OS, but not the new iPhone 4G phone.

In just 8 days we will know what Apple's idea is to make a Tablet Computer a must have gadget. The Windows guys failed at that miserably at the CES 2010.

MANILA, Philippines - Late nights, sleepless nights, are over for Manny Pacquiao.

Because once he lands in Los Angeles, Pacquiao should be eating, breathing and thinking of Josh Clottey until the night they climb the ring and fight at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on March 13.

For the next seven weeks, there’s nothing else to do but train.

The last few days, Pacquiao had been out partying and engaging himself in his favorite pastime, playing billiards at this special place in Malate, sometimes for as long as the sun rises.

Someone close to Pacquiao said it’s just his way of having “good, clean fun.”

Another source said the 31-year-old pound-for-pound champion, who can easily make $15 million per fight, came home the other day to his Hyatt Hotel suite richer by P3 million ($63,000) through money games.

Pacquiao was scheduled to board a Philippine Airlines flight last night along with his Canadian adviser Mike Koncz, his brother Bobby, his lawyer Jeng Gacal, and trainers Nonoy Neri and Roger Fernandez.

A press conference is up in Dallas on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila), and then another one in New York the day after. Pacquiao reports for his first day of training under Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in LA on Thursday.

Saturday evening, Koncz faced the media at the Hyatt Hotel, gladly announcing the negative results of a drug test which Pacquiao took last Dec. 30, and talked about the coming fight, which is said isn’t going to be easy.

“I don’t think any fight is easy,” he said, not against Clottey, a 32-year-old former world champion from Ghana, who is as big or as popular as Pacquiao’s latest victims, including Oscar dela Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

“Clottey is hungrier. And he knows that if he beats Manny he becomes a superstar,” said Koncz of the muscular opponent who, for the first time in his 15-year career, will be paid more than $1 million for a single fight.

Clottey has never been knocked out, and in his 39 fights has only lost thrice. They were questionable losses to Carlos Baldomir (disqualification in 1999), Antonio Margarito (2006) and Cotto (2009).

“Clottey is differednt from Cotto or even (Floyd) Mayweather. He’s stocky and muscular. I really think this is going to be a difficult fight. What Clottey has that Cotto didn’t have was a tight defense.

“And the volume of punches that he throws is just great. It’s not going to be a walk in the park. His hands are always up protecting his head and he comes after you with a lot of punches,” said Koncz.

Pacquiao was at ringside when Cotto and Clottey figured in a bloody 12-round duel last June.

“And Cotto hit him with everything he had and he kept on coming. Clottey is a real opponent and there will be no excuses after the fight which is going to be at 147 pounds – no catchweight.” said Koncz.

In July 2008, millions of men rejoiced over the news that Megan Fox was no longer engaged to Brian Austin Green.

According to Green's Twitter page, the stars are once again betrothed. In response to a question about his marital status, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 actor wrote that he's "engaged and [has] a son from [his] previous relationship."

Other reports state Fox purchased a $2.9 million house in Los Feliz for the new family; while Green also Tweeted he's spending time these days with his fiancee in New Mexico, where she's filming a movie.

MANILA, Philippines - The results of Manny Pacquiao’s urinalysis, done last Dec. 30 as required by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, are out. He’s clean.

“The tests came back to us last Monday and it’s no surprise to us that they’re negative,” said Pacquiao’s adviser, Mike Koncz, in a hastily called press conference last night at the Hyatt Hotel in Manila.

Koncz said Pacquiao, who was in a separate meeting when Koncz faced the media, hardly reacted to the results of the tests because “he always knew he was clean and that there’s nothing to react to.”

The NSAC recommended the urinalysis, as part of its requirements for the boxers’ annual licenses although Koncz said it might have something to do with the blood-testing controversy involving Flyd Mayweather Jr.

Koncz said the papers that came back with the results from Malaysia said “both tests” proved negative, meaning Mayweather could have taken the same test.

Pacquiao and Mayweather were supposed to figure in a superfight on March 13 but disagreements on the blood-testing procedures got in the way. Instead, Pacquiao will face Josh Clottey in Arlington, Texas.

“This is the last time we will comment on these results. What’s important with the results being made public is for us to clear Manny’s name after being tarnished by Mayweather and the Dela Hoya people,” said Koncz.

Koncz said Pacquiao is scheduled to leave for Los Angeles tonight along with trainers Nonoy Neri and Roger Fernandez, lawyer Franklin Gacal and his brother Bobby Pacquiao.

Then Pacquiao flies to Dallas on Monday for a press conference, to New York the following day and back to LA the following day. He begins his seven-week training at the Wild Card Gym on Thursday.

“But Manny asked to take his gear along because he wants to run in Dallas and New York,” said Koncz.

Pacquiao is also scheduled to host a benefit dinner for fellow boxer Z Gorres who’s been released from a Nevada hospital two months after undergoing a brain surgery.

Gorres collapsed after a fight in Las Vegas on Nov. 13 and had been in the hospital since, with bills reaching almost $500,000.

“Top Rank will take care of the $50,000 and the state the rest. We got some criticism why Manny had to wait before stepping for Z but there’s a reason.

“Had we done this earlier, it would have gone straight to the medical bills, and he’ll have nothing when he comes home. We knew the bills would be paid for by the state. We had a plan for Z but waited up to this point.”

Koncz said they plan to hold the benefit dinner three weeks from now and intend to raise as much as $500,000.

He said the other camp saying Pacquiao is into illegal performance enhancers has been proven wrong, and that Mayweather’s ridiculous demands regarding the blood testing is his only way out of the fight.

“We said we can take the blood tests right after the fight and still they wouldn’t agree. If there was anything that would help enhance Manny’s performance during the fight, then it should still be in his system 30 minutes after the fight,” Koncz added.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are not engaged! Witnesses apparently spied a diamond ring on the singer's finger, contacted a celebrity gossip site and talk began to surface that the Australian actor had proposed to the 17-year old.

This is not true. But might it be soon?

An insider told E! News that Cyrus does see herself "marrying young." Moreover, she's "totally in love" and has told people in her life that Liam is "the one." (Sorry, Nick Jonas and Justin Gaston, we hope you aren't reading this.)

Adding fuel to this engagement fire? Sources state that Miley and Liam now live together in the Cyrus family home.

Might marriage really be that far behind? Should Miley wait a few years before she settles down? And can Noah Cyrus please stop singing about getting crunked?!?
