Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao may give away around ten pounds when he enters the ring in “The Event” against Ghana’s tough guy Joshua Clottey at the unbelievable $1.2 billion Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Saturday.
At the official weigh-in which drew a huge crowd of predominantly Pacquiao supporters, the Filipino champion weighed 145 ¾ pounds while Clottey who reportedly had to shed off some excess weight the previous day tipped the scales at the exact welterweight limit of 147.
Clottey said earlier that he was going to have a hearty meal after the weigh in and the consensus is that we will enter the ring at around 160 pounds on fight night although his trainer Lenny De Jesus told us the other day that he wanted to make sure Clottey comes in around 155 so his weight won’t slow him down against the super fast Pacquiao.
Pacquiao’s conditioning expert Alex Ariza said he expects Pacquiao to weight around 150 at fight time which would definitely give Clottey, who can take a big shot, an advantage in weight to go with his slight advantage in height which was evident when the two fighters posted for the media.
Try as they might to provide the customary stare-down, Pacquiao and Clottey couldn’t pull it off and instead smiled at each other further accentuating what Pacquiao has always maintained – there is no need for trash-talk.
Indeed, if there is one added dimension to the Pacquiao legend is that like the late, great Gabriel “Flash” Elorde he earns the respect of his opponents by being a gentleman in and outside the ring.
The two Filipinos featured in the undercard also made weight without trouble.
Featherweight Michael Farenas, a protégé of former two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa came in at 127 1/5 pounds as against the 126 of veteran Joe Morales while bantamweight Eden Sonsona, a protégé of Pacquiao’s former business manager, the late Rod Nazario weighed 119.7 pounds while his opponent, former world champion, veteran Mauricio Pastrana checked in at 119 ½ pounds.
In the WBC lightweight title fight former champion David Diaz from whom Pacquiao won the title with a crushing 9th round tipped the scales at 134 while champion Humberto Sotto was slightly heavier at 134 1/5 pounds.
Diaz believes that Pacquiao faces "a tough fight against Clottey, but its a winnable fight for Pacquiao." WBA super flyweight interim champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire says he expects Pacquiao to win by a twelve round decision and the chances of winning by a knockout are about 30 percent.
Diaz, who came back from the loss to Pacquiao on June 28, 2008 to win a majority decision over former WBC and IBF lightweight champion and WBC super featherweight champion Jesus Chavez last September 26 said he is “feeling good and f eels blessed to get another opportunity to fight for the world title. I am getting ready and hope everything will go right.”
He said the almost six months break since the Chavez fight wont affect him since he has been sparring a lot and while its not the same thing Diaz said “I think I’ll be okay.”
Diaz has been training under Mike Garcia and Jim Strickland in Chicago and said although Sotto “is a tough guy but I’ll work that body and try to get inside of him. He’s a real good technician in the way he uses his reach but if you get inside of that and work him I think we’ll be okay.”Diaz recalled how well he was treated when he was Pacquiao’s guest along with Edwin Valero at Pacquiao’s lavish 30th birthday celebration in his hometown of General Santos City in December 2008. He said “they were all very nice and give them my best wishes.”

While celebrity gossip tabloids and sites have been abuzz lately with Katie Holmes rumors, having apparently remembered she exists, it's much ado about nothing.
The recent speculation? That Tom Cruise got Katie Holmes pregnant, intensified by new photos of her visiting a doctor's office. But she says she's not expecting baby #2.
"Katie is not pregnant," her rep tells People.
Boo. She is, however, held against her will.
Katie Holmes is not pregnant. For the fourth straight year!
Also fueling the gossip are Katie Holmes pictures showing her wearing what many thought was maternity attire, although she may just be dressing in a frumpy way.
Regardless, she's happy, healthy, not with child and promoting her upcoming films, The Extra Man and The Romantics, while chilling with three-year-old daughter Suri.
"She is magical," Holmes said of her bundle of joy, who turns four this April. "She's growing up really, really fast." Kids tend to - though rarely as cutely as hers!

This year's Mix trade show won't be the first time that people hear about Internet Explorer 9 or Windows Phone 7 Series, but it is the event where developers will get enough information to start creating products targeting the new browser and mobile operating system.
The three-day Las Vegas event kicks off on Monday, with Windows Phone executive Joe Belfiore talking about the new phone operating system. On Tuesday, Internet Explorer head Dean Hachamovitch is slated to talk IE 9 and I would not be surprised at all if actual code is offered up this time. Microsoft offered a brief glimpse of IE 9 in November, highlighting its ability to use hardware acceleration for improved text and graphics rendering.
On the phone front, Microsoft has already tipped its hand on the basics of writing software for its new mobile operating system, confirming last week that XNA and Silverlight will be the means of developing software that works on the Windows Phone 7 Series devices that start shipping later this year.
There are more than a dozen sessions on the topic and Microsoft has promised that--although existing Windows Mobile apps won't naturally run on the new phones--Microsoft wants to make it as easy as possible for developers to start writing code for the new operating system.
Although Microsoft hasn't gone into much detail about the tools needed to write Silverlight apps for Windows Phone 7 Series, the company did say at this week's Game Developer Conference in San Francisco that writing XNA games for Windows Phone will require the new version 4.0 of the XNA Game Studio. The company also confirmed that games can be hardware accelerated, connect to Xbox Live and bring in a user's gamertag, achievements and avatar.

In Remember Me, Robert Pattinson plays Tyler. He's a straight shooter, someone that's confident in his ability to attract the opposite sex.
Considering his appearance, one would assume Pattinson possesses this same trait in real life. But one would be mistaken.
"When it comes to the opposite sex, I'm not as fully confident as [Tyler," the actor tells Parade in its latest issue. "I don't even remember the last time I asked someone out on a date... I'm much more self-conscious and not wanting to fail. So I tend to hold back."
That may have something to do with the fact that he doesn't need to, of course. Rob is dating Kristen Stewart.
As for Robert's ultimate goal? He touched on that, and a few other topics, in the magazine interview:
On his personal ambition: You keep trying to make your name stand for something other than just like meaningless celebrity. It's a difficult battle, but I think people like Johnny Depp have done that. He's not judged by his public image, it's just his acting that counts. To get to that place takes a lot of discipline and a lot of hiding.
On box office pressure: People always used to ask me about typecasting and I never had to really worry about it. You think people will judge you by your work. But the truth is, it's about whether the film you're in makes money or not.
On his past: I got beaten up by a lot of people when I was younger. I was a bit of an idiot, but I always thought the assaults were unprovoked. It was after I first started acting and I liked to behave like an actor, or how I thought an actor was supposed to be, and that apparently provoked a lot of people into hitting me.

Silicon Power has a range of flash drives and other gear and the thing that most of its items have in common is that the flash drives put as much emphasis on looking good as they do performing. The latest drive form the company is the Touch 830. The Touch 830 is very thin at about 3.5mm thick and is clad in stainless steel to give it a "Northern European" flavor according to the maker. When asked about fellow young hottie Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron didn't attack the Twilight Saga star or begin a feud that would have the Internet buzzing. Instead, he simply showered Robert with praise.
“He’s absolutely amazing,” Efron told Access Hollywood on the red carpet of the Academy Awards. “I think he’s making great choices. I think he’s handling it all really well, but you know, he’s a superstar. He really deserves all this."
Come on, Zac. You can't insult Rob's new hairstyle at least?
Fine. We'll have to start a rivalry between these two studs ourselves. Study each one above and then answer the all-important question:

When most people think of the Academy Awards, Steve
Steve Jobs has numerous ties to Hollywood. Apple purchased Pixar in 1986, 20 years before it was later sold to Disney, and Jobs served as the animation studio's CEO. Even today, Jobs is involved at Disney as an active shareholder.
However, Jobs's appearance last night was about more than just being on the guest list. Last night featured an important TV premiere for the Apple CEO as the first televised iPad commercial was aired.
The iPad, which was originally slated to be released this month, has been delayed to April 3, in a rare production problem with Apple's usually-tight-knit operations. The device will become available for pre-order on March 12.
