Happy Birthday, Ashley Tisdale!

Posted by thams | 6:42 AM

She probably won't celebrate in the same way as fellow birthday girl Lindsay Lohan, but Ashley Tisdale turns 25 years old today.

One of our favorite young stars, The Tis got her big break when she landed the role of Sharpay Evans in High School Musical. She anchored all three of those successful big screen hits alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron.

Never one to seek out attention via any of the typical antics of stars her age, Tisdale is in a serious relationship with Scott Speer. She seems like a very nice person, unless you ask Trace Cyrus for his point of view.

In the fall, Ashley will star in a new CW series titled Hellcats. We wish her the best of luck with it and encourage readers to send in birthday wishes now!

While The Twilight Saga may boast an impressive, deep cast, let's face it: this franchise is all about its three main stars.

For that reason, New Moon fell a bit flat, as Robert Pattinson scarcely appeared as Edward and we were left with too much of Bella sitting around and simply pondering her life. Granted, Taylor Lautner took his shirt off a lot, but here's the great news about Eclipse:

Jacob is once again topless most of the time - but he isn't the only one heating up the screen. Having been treated to a screening of Eclipse, we can confirm: it's by far the most action-packed of all three Twilight films, and it's also the best. Here's why:

Bella's internal conflict has external consequences. Jacob or Edward? Edward or Jacob? This love triangle is at the forefront of the film, but it's placed against the backdrop of a centuries-old feud between werewolves and vampires.

This is far more than typical teenage angst; this is Bella needing to make a decision, the ramifications of which will impact all the lives around her. When Jacob and Edward agree to an alliance in order to protect the girl they love, even men in the audience might stand up and cheer. It's exciting, selfless stuff.

New Exclipse Poster

The movie has a sense of humor. Early on, Edward says of Jacob: "Doesn't he own a shirt?" It's a cute, light-hearted wink at the audience and the pop culture phenomenon the franchise has become.

Jacob vs. Edward. Choosing a Team in this rivalry is a necessity for all fans, and Eclipse sets up more of a dichotomy than ever before. At one point, Bella complains that Edward won't "unzip before marriage." Meanwhile, Jacob simply oozes sweat and sex appeal. The former is old school, the latter... well, he's ready to pounce. These differences make Bella's dilemma all the more stark, which makes it that much more interesting to watch.

The tent scene. Trust us.

The flashbacks. Through a series of character flashbacks, we learn how multiple Cullens earned their fangs. Jasper's tale of being a Confederate Major is especially gripping.

Great special effects. The movie climaxes with a showdown between wolves and vampires (and one human, of course) that may not be at the level of Avatar, but it makes tremendous use of CGI. Overall, the action is on par with many summer popcorn flicks.

In the end, it's easy to understand why the Twilight Saga appeals to teenage girls everywhere: two gorgeous guys aren't just in love with Bella, they are willing to do absolutely anything for her. It's the stuff we all dream about.

But Eclipse adds action, adventure and history to that simple storyline. It combines the best elements of the first two films and we strongly recommend it to all readers.

For the record, Miley Cyrus hates pop music, Glee and, of course, pants.

Now, the singer has added something else to her list of disdain. In an interview with E! News last week, the singer said: "I hate vampires."

Naturally, this led the network to speak to members of the Eclipse cast about Miley's comments and they replied as follows:

Taylor Lautner: "She doesn't need to like vampires. As long as she likes werewolves, we're cool."

Peter Facinelli: "I'm not necessarily a huge vampire fan, but I do love the books that Stephenie Meyer created. I love that you don't see fangs. It's not a horror movie by any means."

Elizabeth Reaser: "I've always been a fan of vampires since I was a little girl. I loved all the Anne Rice books. Maybe Miley's resisting. Maybe they're so popular now that it's annoying or she's sick of seeing us."

Kellan Lutz: "She hasn't met me then. I would change her opinion on that, I'm sure. I have my ways."

Ashley Greene: "That's so unfortunate because I love her new songs... I'm going to sit Miley down and force her to watch Twilight."

While we in the US still have a while to wait for our first MeeGo tablet, one has surfaced in China that may give us a hint as to what we can expect. Cloned in China reports that the Npad was sighted at a software trade event in Dalian City. This slate sports a 10.1” screen, WiFI capability and 3G connectivity, plus a GPS.

Battery life is said to be around 8 hours while working. No word yet on whether or not that takes 3G into account. No information on price has been released yet, but the manufacturer did say that it will be cheaper than the iPad. Hopefully this baby will hit the US and Europe before too long. The NPad is one of the best-looking iPad imitators yet.

This week's red carpet premiere may have been in honor of Eclipse, but screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg took the opportunity to give fans a major tease about Breaking Dawn.

A HOT, SEXY major tease, we should say!

Speaking to Hollywood Life, Rosenberg opened up about Bella and Edward's relationship in the fourth movie. She said:

“I can tell you the sex scenes are going to be sensual and they’re going to be delicious.

They’re going to be everything I would want them to be. They may not be as graphic as some people may want them, but I honestly don’t think graphic translates into hot. I don’t care if it’s PG-13 or R. I just want the hottest sex scene there is and I don’t necessarily think ‘graphic’ is the best way.”
