When most people think of the Academy Awards, Steve Jobs is usually not the first person to come to mind. However, according to reports, he was indeed at the awards ceremony. Even rarer than the fact that he was at such a star-studded event is the fact that he was not in his trademark turtleneck - Jobs actually broke out a designer tuxedo.

Steve Jobs has numerous ties to Hollywood. Apple purchased Pixar in 1986, 20 years before it was later sold to Disney, and Jobs served as the animation studio's CEO. Even today, Jobs is involved at Disney as an active shareholder.

However, Jobs's appearance last night was about more than just being on the guest list. Last night featured an important TV premiere for the Apple CEO as the first televised iPad commercial was aired.

The iPad, which was originally slated to be released this month, has been delayed to April 3, in a rare production problem with Apple's usually-tight-knit operations. The device will become available for pre-order on March 12.
